Dixie Plywood celebrates 80 years in business at the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta.
Customers, vendors and employees gathered for an evening commemorating the many partnerships and friendships forged since opening our doors in 1944. New faces intermingled with veterans of the industry as representatives from all Dixie branches celebrated with customers and vendors from across the US. Pillars of the company were recognized for their decades of service and partnerships on all sides were honored for supporting our company through recessions, market fluctuations and global challenges.
What began as a lumber resale yard in Atlanta, GA has flourished into an established and trusted company with locations across the Southeast.
“At Dixie Plywood our greatest asset is our employees. Many of our employees bring 30-40 years of experience. Experience brings knowledge and a high value of service to our customers.” - Rafael Caprile, Sales Manager in Miami.
“I feel like Dixie has offered a stable solution for a wide range of products, brand leaders and vendors. We have a long term reputation as being a good service company and that’s the biggest thing.” - Paul Beeson, Dealer Sales in Atlanta.
“We have fantastic sales people, we have fantastic inside people, we have fantastic drivers and we have incredible warehouse men…Why should you buy from Dixie? It’s because every single person in the chain cares about you.” - Scott McCawley, General Manager of Fort Lauderdale.
Although our customers have fueled our growth, our vendors have provided an unmatched support system. Their belief in Dixie Plywood has allowed our team to develop tailored product offerings customized to the market. It is because of their partnership that we remain industry leaders today.
“We teamed up with Dixie Plywood over 25 years ago, and some branches even longer than that. Why did we team up with them? Because they will stick with you for a long time and we have built a wonderful relationship. We trust each other and it couldn’t be any better.” - Peter Funder, President at Funder America
“We’ve been doing business with Dixie for 40 years. We’re a 70 year company, like Dixie’s 80 years old. The big advantage is that these are customers, but they’re all friends. I’ve been personally dealing with them for 30 years myself, and I worked for Dixie for 7 years before that. It’s easier doing business with people that are your friends.” - Andy Shaw, Sales at Columbia Forest Products
“You also have a tremendous amount of product knowledge, understanding and ability to navigate within the organization that they partner with, as well as the customers that they deal with every single day. We’re fortunate enough to have the opportunity to partner with Dixie and have for many years.” - John Madson, VP of Sales at James Hardie Building Products
A family company, Dixie Plywood was owned and operated by The Bradley’s until 2019. In October of 2019, Dixie was sold back to the employees as part of an Employee Stock Ownership Program. We are still a family company, it’s just a bigger family now.
We extend a heartfelt thanks to our sponsors and attendees at this year’s College Football Hall of Fame celebration. We look forward to celebrating another 80 years of serving the Southeast as the leading wholesale distributor.
