While on Dixie Plywood property vehicle operators should be aware that the campus is active with people. The operator should be very careful in operating their vehicle, so they do not endanger anyone. Operators should travel at a safe speed and without distractions.
Dixie has established these guidelines for Safe Unloading and Loading of merchandise to prevent injuries, accidents and damage. These guidelines apply to all employees, customers, contractors and visitors to Dixie Property.
The Unloading or Loading area is anywhere near a vehicle that is being actively unloaded or loaded with a forklift. Only the forklift operator is allowed in the unloading or loading area.
Drivers should stay in their cab until instructed to exit for un-tarping and/or unstrapping. Drivers should not exit the cab with a forklift in the unloading/loading area unless the lift has come to a complete stop and the engine has been turned off. While out of the cab drivers must wear high visibility safety vests. Once unstrapping is completed and all straps and tarps are put away, the driver must get back in their cab. Delays in a driver returning to their cab will result in delays getting unloaded/loaded.
No smoking on campus.
Drivers should always keep all passengers and pets in the cab.
Upon arrival all visitors are required to report to the main office and are restricted to office areas or customer waiting areas. Visitors who need to access the warehouse or yard must be accompanied by a Dixie employee and must don a high visibility safety vest provided by Dixie. At all times visitors must stay near the company escort. Visitors are restricted to the areas necessary to conduct their business. They aren’t permitted in high-hazard areas unless necessary and again, accompanied by a Dixie employee.
Contractor conducting business must get verbal approval from management to conduct work in designated areas and must check in with management when arriving and departing. Contractors must always wear high visibility safety vests while in the warehouse or on the yard and initially they must be accompanied by a Dixie employee.
Upon arrival, guests should ask a Dixie employee about any additional location specific procedures.
